Camel Treking

Much needed shower. Still sort of dirty, though.
Sunrise.
Dawn.
Watching the sunrise.
Sunset.
Camels are prissy things. Notice the nose in the air.
Camels are also tall. Like at least six feet tall. Sonia and her camel.
Prepared for the trek.
Windmills! Looks like there were a bunch under construction on our desert drive to the treking point.
Our guide showed Sonia how to wrap her turban...looks awesome.
Streets of Jaisalmer
The fort in the background. Yes, I loved the obnoxious hat. Sun is hot in the desert. Go figure.

Sonia and Erin take on the camel treking adventure. 18 hour AC 2 tier train from Delhi to Jaisalmer. 18 hour camel trek. Some exploring of Jaisalmer's golden architecture, including the gigantic fort that really looks like it was straight out of Aladdin. 18 hour AC 2 tier train from Jaisalmer to Delhi, complete with mangoes. Breathtaking star gazing, actually one of the most amazing things I've seen in my life. Open flame chapati. Fruit curry. Ali Baba pants. Desert calm. Sleeping in the open. Sunrise, sunset. Mmmmm.

And minimal near-disasters: getting on the wrong train car and finding out the train splits in the middle of the night; jumping on and off the moving train to change cars at a questionable train station; walking smack dab into a man eating corn on the cob while running between cars; listening to tourists sing Backstreet Boys while on the correct car; camels with attitudes and minds of their own. Embracing the chaos. Great trip.
